I used use an antron 99 and a Washington base with variable power mod and talk on 6 alot. And I lived on ahill which helped
Depends on your location, and who is else is keyed down when you try!
We are talking Ch. 6, so bigger is better, huge, and don't forget you need a touch of over-modulation and something witty to say, if you don't sound "like a regular" you may not get a response.

I used to live a few miles away from WINEMAKER in San Diego,.... His antenna overhung both ends of his house (lengthwise, the long way).
