I’m looking for a cheap, easy to work on, Export radio with SSB & FM. I’m going to use it as an IF for a transverter so I don’t care about power out. No other bells and whistles; schematics and drawings readily available will be a big plus.

Skip Talker, Here's a few Exports to start with that have SSB & FM as well:

Magnum 257DX: around $169.95 & up.

Magnum Delta Force: ($209.95 & up)

Superstar 3900 series, or S.S.Grant<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":("> $180 & up) Note: Superstar Grant(President Grant ripoff) has no Freq counter.

Voyage 9000:all the bells & whistles,($190 & up) if you don't care about power out.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

There are a few others not mentioned with low price tags as well..

Hope this gives you an idea.

Thanks for the info. I've never owned a export radio but the 3900 sounds cheap enough.

My 1st attempt will be to attach a 902 Mhz transverter right to it.

Who makes the voyage? I didn't see a parts layout for the 3900 on cbtricks. Is there another version of radio with the same board?
