Cherokee cbs500

Transformer, filter capacitor, rectifier, voltage regulator, and pass transistor are the most common type of power supply components.
The most common parts to go bad are the voltage regulator, pass transistor, and the rectifier.
I would check those first.

Sorry . . . Couldn't find a schematic for your radio.
Best wishes and good hunting . . .

No luck with the links but thanks anyway. I shorted out a transistor, a "A200Y", by accident. I know it's a PNP cause I do have a schematic for a CBS 1000 and one is used in it but not in the power supply. I tried 2 other pNp's I had with no luck. I can't find any info on the A200y to verify the pinout. The regulator, rectifier,Zener, all in the area seem to check ok. What I get is 26V dc and no adjustability from the VR

The trouble is all the components for the supply are on the main board but the transformer, so it's hard to tell which components are part of the supply circuit and which aren't. I know the pass transistor and it checks fine.
