Cobra 138XLR low TX power

15ma seems way too low to me for a 1969. Just saying, I haven't worked on a 138 but that doesn't seem right. I bias a 1969 at 50-55ma.

Edit, sorry, I see it calls for 15ma. That's assuming the 1307 final. There are quite a few service bulletins, have any of them been applied?

As far as I can tell all applicable service bulletins have been implemented.

Not sure how to tell which relay is in here, so I'm assuming 1211 was done as almost everything else was.

1215 doesn't really apply since this thing came without a power cord so I'm not sure what size fuse was in it. It's not blowing fuses now, so I'll worry about that one once the current issue is solved.

Try increasing final bias to 35ma up to 55ma, see what you get. I'm with Cable on this, every 1969 I've ever seen runs best around 50ma. Your 138 came factory with the 1307 that needs only around 15ma, whereas you're now using a 1969 which needs more current to operate at its max potential.

Just my opinion...

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
