Cobra 139 Voice lock mod

I just recently picked up an old Cobra 139 23 channel base. The thing is in pristine shape. So looking to make it better, I was searching the web and found a 15 Khz voice lock mod. Seems all I have to do is add a cap and max out a pot on the bottom of the main board.

Would this allow my to drop in between channels? Also is it worth the time?

Sorry for the questions. I'm not very technical when it comes to modifying radios and using in between channels.

unlocking is a must, if you get 15KC your rockin'
in between and half channels with 15KC

I wouldn't say it's a must, my mobile clarifier is still locked, and so is my president madison. and it's certainly something you don't do unless you have the equipment to align it again when your done.
