Cobra 148 gtl D Need help to identify year thanks

below is my serial number of my radio could anyone help me identify the year radio was made? thank

i can see its new but where would the stamped be ?

Haven't figured out how to decode a date from the serial number of this version of the radio. I do know that the suffix letter "D" seems to mean "Dog".

from what a few have used to list the date made was the 1 st number was the year. the 5 could be 1985 or 1995. since it is a 4 pin it could be later version. do not remember the radios like the D version in 2005. . if any one would have a good guess would have been Nomad and he has just spoken. so a guess is about all you can get here.. since it is a cobra why not call the company since they are still making radios. that would be your best answer.

If that is correct, then it would seem the 1995 date is correct.

The FCC ID number was issued in 1988, so that would rule out the 1985 date

think they stoped making em in 2002 ive been trying to reach cobra
