You can buy something similar from Andrews in Sydney for 399 AUS$.
Don't know if its any good, or where it is made.
heard of one that didn't work and got sent back.

If the radio is actually NOS and unmodified....maybe $350 -$400 is high end but not crazy. The 148Fs are collectable. Modified like the one in the auction.....HELL NO!
What kind of ever loving idiot changes the 5 pin socket to a 4 pin???? There are 5-4 pin adaptors available and no soldering needed.
The bidders are indeed insane. $400+Used+ stupidly Modified=Idiot buyer
I have no idea why someone would put a variable power on the squelch control instead of the swr cal control like all techs do??

They did have SSB, it was a 148 with a freq counter and by no means worth $400 even new, but there are many Radio guys that just love the look of the 148 ( and 148 F and all the other clones ) to a point of crazy.
Cobra flushed everything down the drain with the 150 and 200 GTL DX.
Biggest hunk of crap dumped on the public for beta testing I ever had my hands on.
