Hi I have read somewhere before that you can replace the receive diodes with Schottky diodes (1N5817/ECG - NTE583 . I was wondering what what number the diodes are so I could do this and if anyone on here has done this before ? What were your results?

check out http://www.cbtricks.com iv'e never done that on a 148 but have done it to a 2510 mine, and my madison, and just about every radio i have i also do that on the noise blanker. how does it work, GREAT most of the time i don't use the squelch and there seems to be a lot less man made noise in the backround. try it if you don't like it put back the originals.
good luck and let us know how it turns out for you.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
