is my power supply strong enough to power it? it seems it gets very dim , but other radio,s work fine on it .........power supply is a pyramid 13.8 vdc. with 2.5 amp constant.just dont under stand it.......when you key up & talk it gets dim like mod. backwards.real bad .like not enough power.hlp. plse.

Your guess is right :( a good 5 to 7.5 power supply would be much more sufficient , especially where SSB is concerned. Although the 2.5 should be OK for AM only , but in your case , sounds like yours is on the blink. :( Good luck to you

that 148 will pull about 2 to 3 amps on transmit. thats if its a stock radio. probably more if its been doctored up. like switch kit said. id go with a 5 to 7 amp power supply. i used to run mine in the house on a 10 amp.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
