I have a Cobra 18 Ultra on my bench that I am trying to fix for a friend. When I took the covers off, I noticed that it was a victim of the old corrosive glue. I was able to remove all the glue and give the radio a once over. The weather bands work great and operate off of their own crystal. The problem I discovered was the other crystal, the 10.24 MHz one had been victim to the corrosive glue. One of the legs was no longer attached and broken off at the base of the crystal, The base of the crystal was pitted as well. On the crystal, I could make out what appears to be this:
XEW (or KEW) probably the manufacture?
10.24
52PF / 31 (the first number only appears to be a 5)
I am having trouble finding a replacement. I can not find a service manual for this radio. I have found only a schematic, and the schematic only states that the crystal is a 10.24 MHz. Nothing more on the other values.
I have tried to cross reference the crystal on several sites with no luck. I have searched for several days, and have had my friend search as well. I am at a loss with finding a replacement. This radio has sentimental value to it.
Thanks for ANY help you can give.
