Anyone have a simple variable power mod for a cobra 2000gtl.
Radio keys now at 5 watts to 10 watts on am.
Want variable so I can tune back to 3 watts to run a Texas star killer bee 250 variable amp.
Was told to use 3 watts or less for AM drive.

What I have done in the past is to replace VR10 with some wires and a 5K potentiometer mounted where you like to control the dead key, and also swap R196 and R228 with each other. That allows a much lower dead key and will keep the swing.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
