Cobra 29 Channel Display Upgrade

I seen a kit on eBay to change the color of the channel display to blue

My meter light is out so I thought I would kill two birds with one kit :laugh:

Has anyone changed the display?

I have a Cobra 29 WX NWST

Is it difficult?

if you know what you are doing it is fairly easy to do. there is 16 legs on the display to unsolder and resolder to get it changed plus it will only go in one way. if upside down it will not work. you also have to tear the front of the radio down to do this also.

Looks like I will just replace the bulb in the meter and be done with it

If you ever try changing the display, be very carefull with the double sided board, dont get it too hot, very sensitive. Use a solder sucker from Ratshack & a very fine tip solder gun, dont forget about the rx/tx led too.
