Cobra 29 Questions

I know it's been asked a million times but I couldn't find it during a search..... I have a stock 29ltd brand new in the box never touched, I want to set it up for competition use, gonna use an Xforce XT-400M, driving a X-1600M. What mods do I need for this radio to be fairly competitive? Lower deadkey to 2 watts and let it swing the rest of the way or leave it stock? I'll be using a noise cancelling mic 636L.

There's alot of extravegant mods out there. From someone doing this crap ... errr... stuff for 20yrs, keep it simple. Simple is only a couple watts less than extravagant and usually just as loud (or louder) and clearer.
