i have a cobra 29 that receives on ps only amd have to switch to cb to transmit. The needle moves when switch is in the cb position like its receiving a signal but no audio. If I switch to pa I receive audio but can't transmit.. Any ideas??
Sounds like a transistor/switch has failed. Don't ask me which one it is; but I'll bet that it wouldn't be too hard to find out. Not too much experience with AM radios myself; but there are others that will identify the problem that may chime in yet . . .
since you are getting audio out the external speaker then your internal speaker is probably disconnected. even when they're blown you usually get something even if it's just a buzzing.
I forget to connect mine back up if I disconnect them because I always use externals.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but there are literally more than a dozen radios that say "Cobra 29", each with different suffix letter. Over the 50-plus years since the first 23-channel '29' was sold the internal design has evolved considerably.
