I did a newer one with the nomad variable dk and stock final, about 18+ pep is aboutall she'll do. Not a powerhouse but it does the job.
No way to determine pep of a bastardized waveform with math. Once a final runs out of headroom and pep stops increasing you can still increase average (bird) power by putting more audio on the carrier or driving an amplifier further into saturation.
I agree with you completely. That's what Luke does when he shows an amp that has higher average power with the same peak. This is why I think that a peak reading is more meaningful. People say that the meter worshipers like peak because the number is higher. But it is a real number, when an increase in input has no effect on the peak output then you are done because that is the end of the headroom. People who want to sound good need to be careful with this so they don't sound like a splatter box.
Depending on how overdriven it is, the 17w average could also be 17w peak. I feel that average readings are less meaningful and misleading when a distortion level is not given along with it.

Simply put, Bird - unless he's using PEP side, you can only rely on average - everything claimed is suspect to be analyzed, so if @Tokin is showing a buried needle - why Drail getting only 17 Bird? Dead key or audio - that's why I ask, for if I have to go dig thru his vids to find what you're asking to know, there's not much I can do else provide a link because if we are expected to dig thru all those vids to find the one you're talking about - it's like asking to spend hours reading Shakespeare ...(In Original LATIN)

I have a peak kit on one of my birds so i can flip back and forth.
This 29 has an irf520 mosfet mod to see those numbers. Using the ur6qw eq/compressor my audio reports are loud but very clear even with a touch of echo and a china made generic hand mic.
Unfortunately I don't have a 50 or 100 watt slug just the 25 so im guessing at 30-35
