Is there a good location to hook up 1 of the Chinese frequency counters to
a Classic Cobra 29GTL or a LTD to monitor the channels that has 40 above and 40 below channels.

thanks for any help

No.

If what you mean is a Galaxy-type frequency display that works on transmit and receive both, no.

This radio's PLL output jumps 455 kHz when you transmit. Best place to tap off would be L18. One side of L18 has three pins, the other side has two. One pin on the two-pin side is ground. Tap off of the hot-side pin on that side. This will be the usual 16.27 MHz on channel 1. The SanJian PLJ-6LED counter offset gets set to 10.695 to read the receive frequency. Only problem is that this offset for transmit is 10.24. You can choose that offset if you want it to read correctly on transmit, but not receive.

You'll need a resistor in series with the counter input's hot-side wire. Most likely 100 ohms will do. Just needs to be high enough that connecting the counter doesn't reduce the receiver sensitivity. Haven't tried it on this radio, so a higher resistance might be necessary.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
