Got a new cobra 29ltd classic and when i turn the squelch up just to the point where it cuts the noise (the threshold), it makes a loud rumbling noise. If i turn it up even more the noise will stop but now weak stations cant break the squelch. From what i have found out it is a design issue and they all do it. I have found only one mod to cure it (a cap across TR12) but i wanna see if anyone has knows a better way to fix the problem, or if the cap on TR12 is the way to go?

I know this is an old post, but for anyone looking, a 104 ceramic cap across tr12 collector and base does knock the rumble down but on some radios it doesn't eliminate it completely, and replacing c147, a 393 green mylar, with a 22uf 16v electrolytic capacitor (note polarity) will take it out.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
