I just picked up a Cobra 29 ltd chrome that's not working. Radio is as dead as a door nail. Doesn't power on or anything. Looked for cold solder joints and anything burnt up but it all looks good. Any ideas of what else to check?

ok that part is shorted and needs to be replaced.
however there still might be other parts that are bad also.
Be sure to at least check D22 using your DMM (out of circuit) before just replacing TR23.

I would be looking for a bad connection between the negative pin of the power socket and the ground foil circuit on the circuit board.
A close look around the reverse-polarity protection diode might reveal damage from the power being applied with the polarity wrong.

I just repaired one a few weeks ago that I had to look hard to see the trace blown.
so get some strong glasses and a bright light to inspect the traces.

Yeah, we call that foil trace the "emergency fuse".
Only needed when they put a 30 Amp size in the power cord's fuse holder.
It's typical to find that the reverse-polarity protection diode is also shorted when this happens.
