Cobra 29LTD & RM Italy Toyota Tacoma

Just a picture of my wifes set up. When on noise blanker they weren't kidding I keep thinking something is wrong but the recieve is excellent no need for the squelch. This radio set up is in a Toyota Tacoma 99. If you have one maybe this could give you an idea for setting one up. There is no room for anything extra in these trucks. Please feel free to comment on anything or ask any questions.

Nice install, that little rm Italy amp should serve you well. In the process of installing my radio in my new Wrangler which probably has about the same space as your Yota and will be using a KL203 since its nice and compact.

KL 203

Yes I wouldnt recomend the little amp I installed I think it is is KL 35. It has no on and off switch which can add a lot more trouble on doing a mobile install. I ended up using a accessory plug (ciggarette lighter) which has an on & off switch and is also switched with the ignition switch in case you forget to turn it off. I also have the KL 203 it is great, I am using for my base. That 203 for it's size really draws some amps. Use the right guage wire accordingly.

antenna

A little directional but I didn't want to drill any holes in the roof or put any magnets which will give me rust problems. These antennas have and will see much off roading pushing through low and brokem tree limbs bushes etc. and no problems. If I went with a magnet they would be knocked off.

I think you should up-grade to at least a KL200 or 203, and with a decent peak and tune on the radio a KL300 would be best.

The KL35 is mainly for those dinky micro radio's that don't tune up well. A good peak and tune on your Cobra 29 with a final upgrade will do as much or more watts then what that KL35 can do.

If you leave it the way it is keep in mind those small RM amplifiers like the KL35 & 60 need a low dead key of 1 to 1.5 watts and maybe 8-12 watts peak. If your Cobra 29 does say 3 watts swinging 16-18 you will burn that little amp up.
