Ron, I have one sitting on my bench, very nice AM only 40 channel base, a few minor mods and its quite the talker. Receive is pretty decent as well.
would turning vr6 all the way up be the same as removing d16?
or will removing the diode give even more audio (even if it is splatter audio)
and if d16 removal gives more audio, couldnt you just turn your dynamike down a little? then you could still have that spaltter massive audio to have a little fun with when you want and impress those who just love that sound and think that is super 10-8, and then just turn dynamike down to sound normal?

Well I got the radio today it looks awesome. Looks like a brand new radio, even came with original manual. Got to let it warm up to room temp before plugging it in. I don't know if I'm going to crack this radio open need to get it on my meter first.
Does anyone have the board layout for the 89gtl? What pot controls the from panel. Power meter when I key up it pegs the meter all the way to the right

Looks like VR4 is your target if you can trust the drawing.
