On the desk today:

Connex 3400-300

Reason for coming in:

Squeals on transmit,
Gets hot,
Talkback removed,

Upon evaluation:
Talkback module messed up.
AMC transistor outer legs jumped with a carbon film resistor.
AMC center leg and emitter was touching.
R249 clipped.
Bias off.
Frequency off.

Fixed:
Removed talkback module,
Replaced AMC transistor due to being shorted (Bad).
Straightened out solder botch around AMC transistor.
Replaced R249
Reset bias to specs.
Realigned radio completely.

Finished:
No more squeal on xmit. The squeal was coming from that messed up talkback module and the AMC transistor being shot due to being shorted.

Completely realigned.

Out the door she goes...

Thankfully you were there to resuscitate the big radio!

I don't get it, lol..
A 200 to 300 watt radio and it's still not enough for some, lol, they got to try to squeeze every lil bit out, regardless...

The owner of this one didn't know anything...he hooked this radio up to amps, hahaha....kept having amp keying circuit and blown tube issues, and ran the radio on a 35a power supply, lol...luckily it didn't hurt the radio. He knows better now though...

Sad part is some guy who probably knew no better got chumped out of a good penny for that amp.

If he is that sick, why does https://jokerman-electronics.business.site/ claim he is open for business today??? It looks like other people do his work anyhow, so being sick shouldn't matter. Is John sick too? Is the whole crew sick over there?
