I have a truck that I am trying to maintain a military look. I have a couple of Mx-6707 Antenna Matching Unit bases with 8 foot military whips. I would like to convert the matching units for CB usage. Does anyone have any advice? Please Help! Thanks!

Yeah; but you might not like the answer.
You will need whips at 9 ft lengths - instead of 8 ft/96 inch lengths.
108 inch length is a 9 foot whip length = resonant CB length.

It can certainly be done. Since I'm not familiar with that 'matching unit', I can't give any advice about using it for matching that whip to 11 meter use. Depending on just how much trouble you want to go to, and if you think you may ever need that 'matching unit' in any kind of repairable/working shape, there are several ways of getting a reasonable match. Most of those 'ways' would involve destroying that thingy or just by-passing it. Not using that 'matching unit' and by-passing it would probably be the simplest way, but if you know much about radio stuff it will be noticeable, would that work for you?

Any help will work

I have already bypassed the unit by removing the guts and running #12 solid wire from the antenna mount to the bottom using solder to connect both ends per instructions on "Offroad.com". The questionis how do I connect to CB antenna COAX system?:headbang

Just from looking at the diagram of the bottom of that thing, I think I'd remove that multi-pin jack and substitute an SO-239 jack instead. A typical PL-259 plug on the coax will screw right onto that SO-239. That wire from the bottom of the whip would go to the center pin of that SO-239.

Thanks 'Doc! I will certainly look into this configuration. Hopefully it works because it sounds alot easier than the procedure shown in the afore mentioned article on "flashoffroad.com". -KC

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
