Cool wireless mic but.....

I have a uniden 980ssb and one of the positives people talked about was the ability to have your radio on and go up to 100 feet away from your car and use the mic to monitor and talk on your cb. My question is how long could you leave a cb on and come back and have your car start? I realize its not a simple question as there is a lot of variables such as size of battery, condition of battery and power of cb. But just wondering a safe amount time or is there systems to wire to support that type of usage?

When I was younger I used to spend my nights on the top of a hill talking on a cb with a neighbour. He used to talk until the radio got warbly on tx and then let the car run start. I know the battery wasn't great in the car but in general if you are not transmitting about 3 hours could be expected.
Unless you want to run an audio amp to actually hear the cb from 100 feet.
Then you might get 20 minutes.

You could wire up a relay that turns on when the ignition switch is in the accessory position. Either that or buy or build a capacitor/resistor timing device(timer or electronic) that will automatically cut the radio off at a preset time. A manually operated switch or a voltage signal from when you turn your car on will trigger the timing sequence.
Or,just remember to cut it off.

I never leave my radio on when I get out of my car.
