Theres alot of things that come into play here my friend. What antenna you are using what size alternator/power supply ETC. You have to also know your amperage draw so you know what size power and ground cable you need to run for efficiancy also how much room you have where the amplifire will be because you will want fan/fans for cooling which is important if the amplifier doesnt already have a fan.

Theres alot to think about here and one important thing is How much power you wand or what do you really need. You can buy a 500 watt amplifier but if you run it everyday at 500 watts that is about on the lines od pounding the p!$$ out of the amplifier. Its always nice to figure out what you need or want and get something that you can back down the drive to obtain what your goal is which in return will let the amp not work fullbore and loaf alo0ng and most im portantly leaving you with a CLEAN SIGNAL ;)

About the most impoerant advice I can and will give you is the biggest part of any radio setup rather its mobile or base is ANTENNA ANTENNA ANTENNA!! That is where you need to start because a crappy anytenna will lead to wasted power rather its an amplifier or just a radio.
