is this the right place for base equip. talk, hope so , picked up a nice looking courier 23, but no power cord it has the round 9 pin, not sure if any one knows where to pick up a used one , can a good radio man make a new plug. thanks guys any help would be greatly appreciated

courier 23 power plug

dude, you just got so lucky!
i just happen to have one of these on the bench right now.
to wire it for 120 volt operation from a wall socket here is the pinout:
connect pins 1, 3, and 8 together using a piece of solid wire, about 18ga. or bigger.
connect the "hot" wire (smaller plug terminal) to pin 5.
connect the "neutral" wire (taller plug terminal) to pin 4.
now, as for where to find a 9 pin plug like you need, you're on your own for that.
however, you may just be able to use some sort of "bullet connectors" that fit around the pins on the back of the radio.
be careful. there are lethal voltages floating around inside that radio.

the one i have was given to me, and i decided to restore it before i ever turned it on, so no, ive not used one before.
remember that these radios are very old, and will most likely have problems soon if they dont already.
caps drying out, tubes going bad, dirty pots, and corroded connections are all quite possible problems.
should be a nice sounding rig if its in working condition.
do not operate either device with the covers off, as if/when a cap goes south, it could blow, and they can spray junk all over the place.
also be sure to read up on high voltage safety before ever sticking your hands inside the radio or the amp.
you may not get a second chance to make a mistake.

hey loosecannon. i saw your post googling answers. i just bought an old courier 23...no power cord. i just want to run it off a car battery. is that easy or no? thx jim
Courier made several different model 23s, if yours looks like the one in the picture, the DC plug wires up as shown.
If you don't have a 9 pin plug, A 9 pin tube socket will work (if you can find one) good luck and 73s.
