Thanks for the reply, I have read all that info, I just don't have the correct equipment to trouble shoot a CP2000. I bought a Restored to better than new CP2000 and paid "TOP DOLLAR" for it. When it arrived ,I have found a few issues. When you put the "COMP Switch into the "In" position , the RF totally drops out and the audio is distorted in any mode. So disappointed. Not sure how my mirror missed it, but CBTricks has a bunch of info on the radio.
I know, probably not the response you are looking for, but maybe with that info, someone will take on the project.
Do you have a CW filter for the 103 that you can spare?so what problems are with your CP2000?
the mic speech compressor?
I work on Cubic Astro 150 / 103 (Swan 102) radios.
And in the past SGC marine band SSB radios.
they have that Don Stoner guys thoughts inside them.
great SSB stuff!
similar circuits here and there in those radios.
I just got one of my 103's working again yesterday.
it had low microphone audio.
It is an optional filter. Do you have one to sell?View attachment 73279

check diode CR103 on the Exciter Board.
the CW filter is some added crystals and other circuitry.
these PIN diodes fail all over this radio. especially in
the preselector board.
they can be replaced with 1N4148's.
the CWN filter is described on page 3-7 of the 102BX Service Manual. It is an optional filter. Do you have one to sell?
You are incorrect. I did say 103, not 102BX.the CWN filter is described on page 3-7 of the 102BX Service Manual.
it is not an optional filter. there is a section of circuitry that is
switched in with diode CR103.
these are the same radios for the most part. You are incorrect. I did say 103, not 102BX.
Since you like to teach. perhaps you like to learn too. The 102BX and 103 have several differences. One of them, is an optional 400 Hz CW filter. It was manufactured by Network Sciences and has 6 polesthese are the same radios for the most part.
the 102 had the SWAN brand name on it.
103 has the CUBIC brand name on it,
the company that bought SWAN.
new paint colors, and also the 30/17/12 meter bands
added to it.
They used PIN diodes for a reason. Using a switching diode, will increase IP3, when dealing with strong signals. A PIN diode with a long tau time, such as Mitsu MI-204, which I have used successfully.View attachment 73279
