Has anyone built a VCO block for this chassis? I tried a long time ago, resulting in the destruction of it. I know there are some builders in the UK, but I would like to build my own. The challenge was the variable inductor. The UK guys, make it seem that there is some magical properties of this part.

I have pulled a lot of parts from this radio, that I had converted to 10 meters in the 80's. I had a lot of fun with it back then and want to revive it. I need a VCO, X1 10.0525 xtal (if I ever want to return it to 11m), audio amp TA7205P, final PA xstr/heatsink ( I have this), crystal filter (I have it), TA7310P mixer IC (I may have this), bottom cover with speaker.

Thanks,

SL

The "VCO" in the poster's message is a link to a project that uses the ESP32 microcontroller and the Si5351A chip to make a DDS-VFO. Not quite the same as what you're looking for, but nice to know about for other projects.

Maybe Brandon will chime in on this one. He built a VCO for a radio for me, just to see if it would work. Not a PLL02A radio, totally different design. If I can ever get my sh*t together I'll finish testing it.

I did not see a "link", before you mentioned it. I'm not interested in a DDS VFO for this radio.

I have been playing with DDS VFO's, in 23 CH XTAL matrix radios, where this works very well. In this case, I just want to get the radio working again, as it did, a long time ago. I have some Si5351 hardware, that I am going to experiment with, in some things, that have PLL's, that are ROM based. I also plan to try a Si5351 in some VHF/UHF XTAL based radios, to see how bad the phase noise is.
