desk mic

looking for a nice power desk mic to use on a cobra 142 gtl no hand mic what new desk mic would you buy ?? I don't care for the new plastic d104 mics

For new desk mics, I'd look at the Galaxy reviewed here:
Galaxy Desk Power / Echo / Roger beep Microphone Review

You can still find very nice old Astatic D104 desk mics, as well as Turner +3's for not a lot of money. Either one of them will sound very good on your 142GTL.

If you are going to run ssb forget the 104 and get either a Turner Super Sidekick or Astatic 1104c.

i agree. only d104 i use has the amp bypassed and has a ssb dynamic head on it
sounds pretty good.also checkout a jcd-201 at redmanscb or mfj 299 at bellscb
both have built in compression and mfj has a built in eq.
