Differences between Uniden Grants and Older SS 3900 GHP

I am wanting to purchase an older Uniden Grant to hook up with my mid 80's Gray 300 amp once I get some extra change saved up. I saw a "gold" style 3900 that I might me able to pick up but if it's not that good of a radio then I will pass. Question...are these two radio similiar in recieve and transmit? Thanks in advance.

All depends on if you use SSB or just AM. Then you must decide on a legal cb radio or an Export. The Uniden Grant xl and Lt are top notch cb radio's. The Export Grants are ok, the Superstar 3900's are average for Exports.
