DISC CAPS..

A

An Army of ME

Guest
i have been using caps a friend gave me to do the 1/2 mop bagel mods on my cobra/uniden radios..

the 2 values i have been using are 68pf & 100pf..

i ran out <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":(">

now i went to ratshack and the ones they have are really small..

same value of a 100pf disk is like 10 times smaller then the one i was using..

can i still use it? or am i missing something..

example.. i had a cap marked 68Z or Z68 was told it was 68pf.. i go to the shack and the 68pf discs are the size of a match head!

will they work?

Look at the voltage ratings on the newer ones. I bet they're much lower. Do you know what voltage is present in the circuit right there?

Cell phone shack sucks anymore<img src=http://www.wwdx.org/smilies/posticon43.gif ALT=":43"> I started getting all my parts online as the local shacks dont stock crap these days.

Those caps should work fine for that purpose.Next time you stock up you might give these guys a try. www.partsexpress.com

Hey Army,,i'm not sure what the mod you speak of is,,,but if its about adding the disc. caps. to the output after changing to a 1969 transistor,,,i would recomend that you be sure to use "NPO' rated capacitor for that type if mod....
good luck dude...later
