Do you live in an Urban, Rural or Backwoods area??

Rural Small Town USA. WE are the 1st home outside of the city limits so our privacy fence serves as the city limits sign is what I say. You could not give me a home in a city for FREE.
I felt the same in every town I've ever lived in. My current Village is way different than most. As long as you don't break any significant laws, they just look the other way. Our local police never hassle you over petty stuff. Motorcycles, 4-wheelers, golf carts and UTV's run the streets. We have no zoning or crazy ordinances. However, the town I live in is pretty rough and drugs are rampant along with theft. Gotta keep yo stuff locked up. I have 17 cameras outside.

My town is full of lazy, low achievers, always looking for a hand out or someone to sell something Real Cheap. It's the product of a by-gone railroad town with no where to go but people live here because taxes are cheap. It's been called a Welfare Town ( Those who get a Gov't check & those who think they are big-shots but still look for a hand out ) LOL

Our town was big coal town that prospered. When that ran out all went to hell.
Our town was prosperous 100- years ago when the Railroad run up thru this valley stopping at all these little villages with supplies and passengers. But the Railroad must have seen the writing on the wall and built a cut-off to shorten their route between to large cities. Their-cut off cut this property in half and built a artificial mountain on one side of me which screws me up for getting out on the East & North. All brought about by Auto & Truck development. History !

Small city here of a little over 200k, elevation approx 3600' in the lower high plains. Our circa mid 1980's neighborhood is right on the edge of the city not far at all from city limits. Homes are spaced out well and we do live in a very relaxed hoa. The main reason for the hoa is because we have a pool, sports courts and clubhouse that belong to this neighborhood so funds are to keep it running and maintain the walkways. I really mean a lax hoa, or we wouldn't have bought the home. Basic rules of being considerate but no rules on towers, antennas etc and I get along with my neighbors so they could care less. I have my primary station in the house going out to a sirio 2016 on a home brew 30' push up mast and run a second station in the garage going to a dipole in the attic. Noise isn't really an issue as all power is underground and when conditions play well I have no problems talking wherever propagation let's me go. Rfi hasn't been an issue but I also don't pump out ridiculous amounts of power.

I can enjoy radio here and with good propagation it plays well with my gear.

Living in the Netherlands in a -for Dutch standards- mid-size city (250k), smack in the middle of it.
Got a lot of neighbors closeby, but not as many as when I lived in SE Asia.
There's loads of man made noise around. On the 11m my s-meter goes rarely below s7 to s9. Had located one source of the QRM and managed to eliminate that.

Those where a bliss 2 weeks, until someone else moved in elsewhere a couple of doors down, installed internet over the power cables -my guess as it sounds exactly the same and one internet company here (kpn) is famous for their adapters- and now it's back, just from another side.
This mostly involves 11m, but also some of the Ham bands.

Anyways.. I still make contacts all over Europe, Canada, US, Carribean, South America, Africa. Just have to be a little bit more lucky on being able to hear the other side.
Usually don't use more than 100 Watts.

Here is the English translation:

I live in Puerto Rico, in the central mountain range, at an elevation of 1,700 feet. The nearest neighbor lives about 500 feet away. I am surrounded by trees. I practically have no artificial interference.
Are there many CB operators around you? I know there are lots of hams. Just wondering if CB is alive and well. Do you have CB shops?

Cb shops are non-existent around here, there used to a few back in the 80s but long gone how. There was a ham shop about twenty minutes away but they closed two years. Closest not is Ham Radio Outlet (former AES) in Milwaukee, about an hour and half away.
