Base Double Extended Zepp

You can make a lot of different types of antennas work on any frequency, it just depends on how much trouble you wanna go to. I have, and don't mind using a tuner. I also like using 'ladder line' when possible. the combination of those thingys means I really don't care what the antenna system's impedance (SWR) is, if the tuner will handle it. If an antenna's radiation pattern is one that's usable for you (found by experience/actual use, NOT theory) then knock yourself out with it! How do you tell about that radiation pattern? An antenna modeling program is useful, not exact, but useful. Try it, see what happens. ...
\Once used a railroad track for an antenna (with a tuner). It worked! Not well by any means, but I could be heard. Get an idea of how bored you can get sometimes??

Run ladder line all the way and add a balun in front of that tuner and it'll take care of that 'imbalance' problem. If you have a fairly 'broad' tuner you can make it work just dandy.
Hello Paul, I am a novice in this hobby. I am reaching for assistance with a Extended Double Zepp antenna. I am getting conflicting information on the correct choke balun. Some are saying 1:1, others 4:1. I will be using the 450 0hm ladder line and the center frequency is 27.205. What is correct balun for this antenna setup? Thank you Marc WR0546

the EDZ is great. do it.

i have converted all my outdoor feedline over to balanced feed using a 9:1, 450 ohm, and a folded dipole hung vertically in a big pine. For my west coast antenna, i plan on making a 4x phased array of 1.25~ doublets like the EDZ between 2 90' pines with 600 ohm. no idea what that's gonna show up like at the balun on the low impedance side or if i will have to build a 12:1 for it
