I was up very early today. I thought I might try a little 40m for some DX. Band was noisy with static crashes but not terrible.
Worked:
K4QHM/Dennis/Miami,Fla...Dennis was running only 100w to a mobile Hamstick on his metal roof about 10ft up. He was 53 to 57 with the band a little up and down but we had a nice chat.
Then called CQ and was answered by:
VE1BSA/Joe/Near Halifax,NS/CANADA...Joe was running about 80W/ old Ten Tec rig and a simple dipole at about 30ft. Band was great last few transmissions he was 15 to 20 over S9, when we started only about 55, so the band was coming around for us...nice contact!
Alas no real DX this morning
....guess I'll changeover to 75m at 3.865 and see if any of the regular group is up like me this morning.
