I use dial up and on a GOOD day my connection is 26 kbps<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> but have had no problem with Echolink<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

On the router question, it really depends on what the router is doing. If it's just a pure router, then he shouldn't have to do anything. If he's got a firewall up though, then he just needs to open up those ports. Depending on what kind of firewall he has, he may either have to forward the ports to you, or he might be able to just open them up for anyone to use. Anyway, good luck...I hope you can talk him into it.

If you have a local repeater hooked up this way you can also punch in the node # with your radio. I've talked with a few this way. On a side note....I heard a "9" station in IL calling for me on the Austin repeater but I was in another vehicle with just a HT and about 30 miles from the repeater so couldn't make the trip to come back. If it was someone from this forum, E-mail me at address below and maybe we can set up a time to "hook" up.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">
