Wayne from Elecraft has published information about a modification to the optional KXFL3 filter board that significantly reduces or eliminates the VFO encoder tuning noise. Instructions on the simple mod can be found at: http://www.elecraft.com/manual/KX3 Tuning Noise Reduction Mod.pdf

I performed the mod on my radio and it eliminated the tuning noise on all bands except 10 meters, where it was still significantly reduced. On 10 meters, I barely notice it now under normal band conditions and if I do, I can still turn on the VFO Noise Reduction option for that band alone.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
