I was running the old 5010 the other day when I noticed the output was LOW... like 4-5 watts at best. Pulled the covers off and noticed the board near the final was discolored. Not a TECH by any means but I think its safe to say the mrf477 final is shot. With a multi meter I checked as best i could the rest of the components around the final and driver...all seams ok including the driver. So my question is has anyone swapped out the 477 for a 2sc1945 in an Emperor? Saw a video on youtube where this was done on a 2510 (same final as 5010) and it worked out fine with ALMOST the same output. The 477 is high dollar like 45-60 $ and the 1945 is not...like $5. Any advice on this topic would be appreciated!!

The 1945 will have less than half of the output of the 477, but it can be used and it is a replacement.

Also seen that there is a mod to replace the 477 with a 2290 somewhere on the 'net. Never done it, but I think you can hunt that down too if you want to have the same output as you did before.

Thanks robb I will look into that. From the video I watched he was getting 25 w out with the 1945...I would be happy with that. I have one ordered so we will see what happens
