Export General Lee only putting out 10 Watts... Please help!

It's not right but, it's exactly like the builder intended because these are not transistors designed with RF stages in mind. In those cases you would have a lower power, higher gain transistor designed for the driver, and something more robust as the final, perhaps having a lower gain. Today, you get repurposed switch mode power supply transistors, being misused as linear RF transistors and they are horribly unreliable as a result. No reputable manufacturer would be caught dead using the junk they put in the back end of CB's today.[/QUOTE

It’s my friends radio, he had someone supposedly put new finals in it so I wasn’t sure if he installed the wrong ones. He also put a voltage regulator in with no heat sink greaseThe side of the radio was getting so hot you could barely touch it and by that time the radio would flicker on and off‍♂️
Yes, they use one IRF520 to drive two IRF520 final-stage transistors.

The Galaxy DX33HP2 is the same radio from the same assembly line and a different name badge on the face. Only thing different is the factory's customer. The importing company who uses the "General" name.
