Faceplate removal

I have a cobra 148GTL side mike bezel, and want to remove the faceplate. I want the plate to remain flat and undamaged, so using an Xacto or a razor knife to pop it loose isn't an option. Is there a solvent that I can apply (or soak it in) that won't affect the bezel. I don't care if it removes the paint from the face plate .. Could soaking it in very hot water liquify the glue enough for the plate to come loose easily??

i took one off a cobra 29 with a heat gun once
....just heated it up to loosen the glue and just pulled it gently off...

I put the bezel in very hot water for about 15 minutes, and the plate freed up a bit, but not totally. I applied a little heat with a gun, and the plate came off easily. Thanks MS for your help and 73s.
