I recently got a great deal on an FC390... the manual says that it should be powered by 8 volts... I played hell finding an 8v source in my base station (TRC-458) best I could find was a 7.47v, so I bumped up the main voltage from 12.2v to 14.4v...
that got me around 7.6v still not what it calls for... but it works...
then I read online that the FC390 is rated for 8v to 13.8v operation... so can it hook up to a 12v-15v source with out death... it sure would be a lot easier if I could use 12ish volts to power it and to take the LSB/USB + switch signals...
someone knows...
either way it works... turns out I was almost dead on freq wise... channel 38 L read 27.386... a slight adjustment once the unit was warmed up did the trick... also found that my clarifier was a little off on receive...
