found this 148 gtl 455 mod


ive seen this mod in the past but never tried it.

I would have liked to see some specs for the inductor the goes from the base to the emitter, and i would imagine that with an HG2879 or something that's available today, that 560pF cap might have to be changed in value.

I also think that the final of the 148 would be too much drive for that transistor, and the output of the radio would have to be reduced before doing this mod.

still, very cool if it works. With the radio modded for assymmetrical modulation, you could have a radio that keys at 5 watts and swings up to 60+ watts.

I would highly recommend adding an external heatsink to the back of the radio as well.
