Frequency counter ?

I have a nephew, who is learning how to work on cb radios, and at the present he is running a Cobra 139XLR for his base setup, ok, is there a frequency counter that he can leave inline and use with this radio all the time, or are they just something has to stay on the bench ?....

be aware that old frequency counters will not be on frequency so they are not a good tool to adjust a radio with, just something to let you know around where you are at.
