When I turn the memory select knob (MEM) on my FT-990 the channel number displayed will not increment or decrement correctly. It will move from 1,2 3, back to ,2,4,5,7, back to 5 etc. The jumps are random and occur whether I am advancing or decrementing the number.

I'm an OT. Got my ticket in 1954. I can fix tube gear blindfolded but I am lost when it comes to solid state gear with multiple processors.

Appreciate any help. Please reply to jk.ashley@earthlink.net

Thanks,

My 990 is jumpy if you spin the MEM dial to fast. I imaging they just get dirty in time and could use servicing . Ill tell you what pI$$es me off is when hooking my Yaesu MD-1 desk mikes to any of my other yaesu rigs I can hit the the up/down on the mic and go through the memory bank but the damn FT-990 will not let you do it and up/down buttons only change frequency in VFO or memory mode. Its weird and just plain stupid!!
