I've also had my eye on the ftdx1200 and was curious of the same.
My only other experience with an HF transceiver on AM was an Icom IC-735 and if you gamed the ALC via the ALC port on the back with a 9 volt battery and a potentiometer you could get it to swing forward on an AVG watt meter and sound pretty good.
I've heard that a lot of the newer rigs don't have the overly agressive ALC on AM problems that the older rigs had.
Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
