Why does this unit only receive UHF ? I found one relatively cheap

Good question. The device seems to be a little silly actually. You can buy a micro dual band HT for less money and receive everything via repeater OR simplex. Whats the point in an FPR-1???

I never could figure out why Yaesu thought this would be a good idea. It makes about as much sense as having the range on the bluetooth accessory limited to only 3m (according to the manual - I never bought one because of that very limited range.)

It's for non-Hams I guess... give it to the wife while out camping. She can clip it to her shirt.
