After trying mine on DC, again, it turned on and seemed to pick up fine. I moved it back over to AC in the house, and the results were the same. After a minute or so, however, the audio started dropping out and the analog meter with it.

I have one myself I think some have issues where power supply gets really hot and audio & power degrade on the radio
