My 959's meter light and frequency counter display stopped working. The problem started a few short weeks prior to this. Each time they would wink out I would cycle the dimmer on/off switch which caused them to come back on. The problem got more frequent until now they won't come on at all. The channel display works perfectly with the switch. The only light mod is I had DTB install a red LED behind the meter which lights up when I key down. The LED used to faintly glow when the meter and freq counter would be on but doesn't now. Any suggestions?
P.S. when I plugged the Viagra board back up and re-loomed the wires I noticed that when I would wiggle the harness the meter light would go off briefly. Looks like I need to pull the covers and start wiggling wires.

this little radio is bad about the push on connectors losing contact. a lot of times you can just unplug and replug all of the push on wires and it will come back to life.
hopefully that is all you need to do. if not you could have a bad solder joint .

OOOOH i see, its got a TX light in the meter......okay. Im guessing when he pulled the faceplate/bezel off, there might be a loose connection. I agree, follow & check all the freq plugs. Im thinking its minor, i hope, ya gotta get in there and prod around. When doing this, always push in the dimmer knob to check on/off.

The dimmer switch turns the channel display off and on. Whatever supplies voltage to the meter and freq display is where the problem lays. I remember it did that when I reloomed the harness when I hooked back up the Viagra board. I'll check it first chance I got and post results.

When you push in the dimmer knob, everything that has lights turns off, im doing this right now, lol. Im just trying to help?
