I have a galaxy DX33HML it puts out:

1watt key 20 watt swing on LOW
3watt key 20 watt swing on MED
8watt key 20 watt swing on HIGH

I don’t know if it is putting out with in spec but seems decent

MY ISSUE IS...

On low SWR barely moves the needle ch 1 & 40 which is perfect

on med SWR 1.4 on both ch 1 & 40

oh high SWR 1.7 on both ch 1 & 40

SWR stays the same on both channels but it goes up together on med and high? Is that normal?

I have 2 other radios SWR is perfect ( as this radio low is )

why is SWR higher on med and high?????

Sigh...

Here we go again...this seems to be an on-going problem that I too had to "correct" for a former boss - look below...This isn't any fault of your own - it is simply a "quality issue" dealing with dirt and washing up on the boards...

What I've had seen and do, is CLOSELY inspect, I mean high power loupes or magnifying glasses and inspect in between the parts for dirt and loose solder - this kind of problem is a quality issue and I've simply turned board upside down and tapped along edges to loosen the "powder" and soldering "hairs" - that fall out from the board.

Yes, it does, and it will, happen to you - be ready for it.

And remember to re-heat some of that solder and press in the parts that look ready to fall back out...
