Galaxy DX94 Heats Up

I have a galaxy DX94 that I'm having issues with. I have it installed in KW semi, Power is hooked to battery with good grounds. When I key up and talk it transmits fine. Once I release the PTT the meter jumps to a S7 and has all sorts of recieve noise. I can key up again and still transmit fine. I can still recieve but its hard to hear over all the static. The problem is the Bottom AMP sections heats up very quickly, too hot to touch. I have to unplug the power for it to stop. The fan is working. I also have other radios that do not do this including a DX98. I believe it has to be something simple, hopefully. Any help would be great.

Is it possible to be on a lake and have a homing directional beam being emitted from the shore so a person could navigate to that beam's source? For example at night to a jetty.
