Galaxy Saturn

I wonder if Galaxy is aware of this problem? I'm guessing that it's the crystals that are bunched together on the 959's board. Maybe a power transistor attached next to them with insulation over them would help. The transistor would have to be set up that it sheds it's heat at a certain temp along with a regulated mini power supply the keep the temp stable. That would take some experimentation. My Realistic TRC-428 has a double row of holes covered with a thin black material on the component side cover. That would let fresh air in and the warmed air would exit thought the face of the radio. I've been thinking about applying the same thing to my 959 plus put a big heat sink on the backside.

I wonder if they care. SSB operators aren't exactly the target market for Galaxy. They make loud AM radios and sell them by the truck load to people who want screaming audio on AM.

You won't find weak audio being a chronic problem on a Galaxy, so I think they serve their target audience well.
