Galaxy speaker blown?

I think the speaker in my galaxy 949 is blown. I gives off a rattle when some of the louder sounds come through.
I have a couple of old Cobra 29's & 25's laying around, that i know are good. If they are both 8ohm they should be interchangeable, right?

If you are using the radio as a base, you will like using a 2 way or 3 way speaker from an old stereo system. Sounds fantastic.

Yea, its mobile...I was thinking that would work, just wanted some assurance from someone other than myself.

Gee I thought everybody used an external speaker while mobile anyway.

Because the 949 is a typical bottom-firing speaker, most folks would have to turn it pretty loud to be able to hear well especially while driving and overcoming engine and road noise. This turned-up loud operation is what wears the speaker out over time.

Get a decent external speaker

I have mine mounted above my rear view mirror, so it's kinda close to my head. i don't have to turn it up that loud.
